Good Evening, RVA: November 9th, 2015
Rainy, dismal, and bearded!

It was a dreary as heck day in RVA.

City Council Meeting is happening, like, any second!
We annotated just about everything we could from the massive City Council agenda for tonight’s meeting. It is definitely worth a skim (or a detailed read, depending on your availability level), because there are things in there about taxis, school funding, various parcels of land, and whatnot!

With a wink and a twirl, up the chimney he rose
Stephanie Ganz informed us all about The Bearded Kitchen and how it’s helping some foodmakers make their food. This is good for those of us who insist upon the bounty of various bakers and juicers and specialty vendors but do not realize that they don’t have their own industrial kitchens. And we never realize that! We just eat and eat and eat their wares without one little thought for their personal comfort! It’s a dang good thing these bearded guys are on top of this.

Will you marry me and my financial situation?
Being in a committed relationship with a person who has different financial goals and values than you do is the saddest recipe for disaster. Guys, money isn’t just paper and numbers. Money is a representation of your values and how you want to live your life. Want to blow it all on yachts? Go ahead (but may we interest you in a look at some of Richmond’s finest charities that could use some assistance?). Want to save it for the education of the ten kids you’ve both agreed to have? That’s fine too, as long as you’re both on the same page. Amanda Gibson explains how she and her husband do it–the best part is that it’s a lot easier to have the big conversations if you don’t make eye contact!

Seriously, don’t text and drive
Texting and driving has been a primary offense for a couple years now, and as such we’ve seen an increase in convictions. Take heed! Although, I’m not sure what else needs to be said to convince folks to pay attention while hurtling their multi-ton steel rockets down the highway.

MORE COLORS!
Courtesy of the hardest working man in murals, Hamilton Glass, the Diversity Richmond building is getting a new coat of paint. Well, probably several coats of super bright and awesome-looking paint, but new paint nonetheless.
