Free for you and yours!
We’re too afraid to look at the forecast, lest it promise endless rain like last weekend. FORECAST! We don’t have too many good weekends lefts! Stop screwing us over! Anyway, here are five things to do with your family if, like us, you’re trying to save those pennies for holiday gifts and/or the new Wii. One of these things involves InLight, and if you’re not convinced to go to this yet, check out pics from years past and know that it will be bigger and brighter this year at the VMFA!

Bummer of an email to get
We feel kinda bad for people whose jobs it is to write emails that have a 75% chance of being published–every word you write will be exposed to the heartless masses who are gleefully warming up their typing fingers! Oh well, that’s what you sign on for when you work for the City! Rick Tatnall of Replenish Richmond has been working on making the last few weeks of the Sugar Pad’s life meaningful, but he just got a big nope email from the City.

Don’t be silent about giving thanks for the Byrd
The Silent Film Music Revival is so cool–matching bands to films they have to compose music to on the spot. Guys, why didn’t we think of that? Spontaneous score writing! Some of our favorite office movies are ones sans sound! And some of our favorite movie theaters are the Byrd! Check out the #GiveThanksRVA event this weekend, featuring Lobo Marino and the world’s most wonderful movie palace!

If you only read one story today…
Let it be this one, about the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of Kathrine Switzer, who was the first woman to ever run the Boston Marathon. And what did she get for her pains? She almost got physically pulled from the race before her boyfriend tackled the dude–right in front of a photographer! Anyway, now she is a big running world legend and inspires lots of people, including you, if you show up on Friday night at the Weinstein JCC to hear her speak!

Things about bikes
You can be sorta famous in that Richmond way, which is the way where tons of people know who you are either by sight or by name but you don’t get any free sandwiches from 8 1/2 or anything, by starring in a tourism video on the Capital Trail! You can also shake your fists or stretch your cycling legs–whichever side you’re on–and prepare for the beginning of the Floyd Avenue BIKE BOULEVAAAAAARD. It’s coming!

Actual slowed down recording of the Chipmunks doing “Refugee”
We kind of like this better than both the Tom Petty original and the regz Chipmunks version?
