Department of environmental quality

It’s automatic, it’s systematic, it’s hydromatic

Kind of shocking news, everyone…the James River Association and Dominion have reached an accord. The former agrees to chill out while the latter agrees to do more for the environment. Success? Maybe?

You’re the five that we want

Treat your family to the greatest gift of all: your time. Just kidding, the greatest gift of all is an unexpected bagel. Anyway, get those kids and take them to all of these five things.

RVA east end fest

It’s got groove, it’s got meaning

Trevor Dickerson talks to David Fisk about the symphony’s role in the RVA East End Festival, and the results are worth reading! Also included: a sneak peek into what the symphony will be playing under their enormous tent during this festival. It was community-decided! Neat!

Atlantic 10 tournament

You look like a beautiful, black-and-gold pineapple

The Rams are en route to Brooklyn for the A-10 tournament, which they tend to do well in. Last year they even won! Aaron Williams makes his predictions. Don’t get too excited, he’s of the opinion that anything can happen. That’s why they call it March Madness after all! RVANews will be there, by the way, so hit us up with all your basketball-related questions or pizza place recommendations.

Look at me, I’m Niall D.

Our entire office gained actual pounds after Susan Howson interviewed Niall Duffy and returned bearing scones and tea brack. But it was so worth it. The baker behind Two and a Half Irish-Men shares his story as well as his 200-year-old recipe for traditional Irish soda bread.

They go together like…how on earth do you spell that next part?

We tend to like anything that mentions Chris Cornell. It’s kinda long, but…that payoff!
