This week, I share with you, a Haiku…

It’s good in gravy
And also good with pasta
Delicious herb: Sage.

Citizens of America…we are in the middle of a HEAT WAVE. Who you gonna call to help your garden survive? There’s only one option: SUPER LYLA!

Sarah Milston

Back by popular demand – the kid. This week she is showing off her green beans. They are her favorite vegetable and most have been consumed raw and in the garden. She loved them so much we have planted four successive plantings. We are planning to save seeds and finally got some to go all the way brown on the bush (in her right hand) – between the squirrels and the kid – it has been tough.

July in Virginia is all about saving the garden from the heat. With my myriad assortment of containers it is hard to stay on top of watering. So I figured, they sell those cute handblown water bulbs – but wouldn’t a glass bottle work the same? So I grabbed some vintage bottles from my grandfather’s shop and rotate them through the containers. Here you see patio tomatoes and lemon cucumbers. These are nestled on the porch next to the trellis.

Scott Pharr

There is nothing like some eggplant to get you in the mood for eggplant parmesan or grilled eggplant! Even though it has no nutrition value, dang it makes me and my family hungry! Speaking of hungry…

We made this the other night from our squash and zucchini. It was, um, delicious! Also, for you gluten-free people (including my wife), that’s an almond flour crust so its safe for you too!
