Food News: Restaurant changes, board games, award-winning moonshine!

There’s going to be a lot of changes to Richmond’s restaurants, but have no fear, it’ll all be for the best. You’ll be too busy buying delicious iced coffee in bulk, and celebrating with the Belle Isle Craft Spirits team on their most recent victory to notice the differences.

According to those on the text-alert system from Selba, the restaurant closed for the summer. We’ll keep you updated with any talks of its reopening in the next few months. Let’s hope they still tend to the Garden Room!

Rostovs now sells their Iced Coffee Concentrate for retail! Which means you can have the deliciously fresh Toddy-brewed coffee in bulk. One 16-ounce jar of Organic Peruvian goodness lasts up to one month, and if you return the jar, you get $1 off the next refill. Iced caffeine is the best caffeine for summer. Or ever.

On July 13, The Nile will close its doors. We’re not sure if it’s sad news exactly, because the owners end the goodbye letter by stating that there’s another adventure for them in the works. We have a little over 50 days to find out! Anticipation!

Local alcohol fame isn’t just for craft beer anymore, for Belle Isle Craft Spirits won GOLD in the Unaged Whiskey/Moonshine category in the 2014 Sip Awards! We love them so much, we wrote about them earlier this week.

Mint won’t reopen at the downtown F.W. Sullivan’s…but Haxall Point will! Read the detailed play-by-play of what happened by Richmond.com’s Karri Peifer.

Huzzah! We don’t have to chase the Goatocado food truck around the city anymore, because there will be a cafe location at Carytown Bicycle Co! Go get some quinoa goodness, you lucky Carytowners, you.

Usually we don’t need a reason to enjoy baked goods, but starting this week, Carytown Cupcakes will have a “Cupcakes for a Cause” fundraiser for the Richmond Animal League. It’s five days long, which gives you plenty of chances to aid the city’s furry friends.

On the first and third Tuesday of every month, Triple Crossing will host Board and Beers. Starting at 6:00 PM, bring out your competitive side and partake in playing games while you try out the new brewery.

Update about the Europa story from last week: Society / Cha Cha’s owner bought the spot. He’s planning on something that’s largely Spanish tapas with a bit of American tapas as well. Here’s to sharing!

If you’re a Richmond foodie, or just someone who likes the local food scene at all (which should be all of you, darnit) and would like your brain to explode with helpful information from Karri Peifer, go ahead and read her piece appropriately titled, “Everything Ever Happening in Richmond Dining.” It ranges from restaurant openings to secret-yet-not-so-secret deals, so go get educated!
