Favorites: Shyndigz’s crack pie
One little taste and I was hooked on crack pie ($7.99). Shyndigz makes a version of the addictive wonder pie from Momofuku Milk Bar, and they do it more than justice. The sweet and fudge-like filling soaks into the oatmeal cookie crust while baking, forming a sort of candy made of oats and future sugar withdrawal. Eat it à la mode, eat it with fresh whipped cream, eat it with your hands. You won’t leave any behind, and you’ll want more when you’re finished.

That ice cream looks like shortening.
@Dido – sometimes, certain foods don’t photograph well because of lights so they use substitutes??? IDK, but I agree with you… Odd
(Also, if they actually were using a pro photography setup, wouldn’t shortening melt in the heat, too?)
It’s not shortening, it’s actually vanilla ice cream. I did this shoot in the moment (I often have to when I can’t prearrange something with the establishment). It’s not really melting yet because I photographed it right after it arrived at my table. As for a “pro photography setup” melting stuff, that’s probably only true if you’re using continuous lighting or have really powerful modeling lamps on strobes. Time and room temperature would have been a bigger threat in this situation.
