Favorites: Dutch & Co.’s Common Law cocktail

The Last Word is a Prohibition-era classic: four ingredients in equal parts, shaken, strained, and served straight up. The original is a refreshing gin cocktail with the bright, herbaceous Chartreuse playing a major role. Dutch & Co. has created an excellent variation in their Common Law cocktail ($9). Smokey mescal stands in for the gin, complementing the Chartreuse perfectly while lime juice and maraschino liqueur provide bright, sweet support.
