Favorites: Dixie Donuts’ Aztec doughnut

In the midst of Richmond’s doughnut renaissance stands one shop focused on cake rings instead of the raised, yeast variety. Dixie Donuts has produced fancy and delicious goodies for about a year and a half now, and some flavors have deservedly stuck around for a while, like the Aztec ($1.25). This chocolate donut comes slathered in a spiced chocolate frosting with powdered sugar and candied pumpkin seeds on top. These are uncommon flavor combinations, but they’re uncommonly tasty, too.
