Eating chocolate is good for area families

Think of a charity event covered in chocolate and you’ve got the annual Chocoholic event. Learn about one of the city’s most helpful and delectable charity events of the year.

If we were to tell you that there’s an event that features nearly endless amounts of chocolate, would you be interested? Now, what if we told you that the event also raises money to help local children, would you be even more on board??

Well, this Thursday marks the 7th annual CHOCOHOLIC! event. There will be a smörgåsbord of chocolate treats from area chocolatiers, bakers, and other speciality shops, along with wine from Barboursville Vineyards and beer from Capital Ale House. Despite being a cornucopia of utter deliciousness (obviously), the event raises money for the Children’s Health Involing Parents (CHIP) of Richmond. CHIP offers a variety of comprehensive services to “improve the overall health, well-being, and independence of families.”

If chocolate and charity aren’t enough to perk your interest, how about this: there will be silent auction items ranging from local restaurant gift certificates to week-long vacations. Last year, the event raised over $30,000, and they’re pushing for even more this year.

Tickets are $50, and the event is just about sold-out–you need to move fast if you would like to attend. As luck would have it, Cupid has gifted RVANews two tickets, so if you and a special someone would like use Valentine’s Day to help families, indulge in your chocolate addiction, and perhaps win some great prizes, then enter our giveaway!
