Dogfish takes over the Blue Goat, Stool Pigeons takes flight, and Nate’s Taco Truck Stop says goodbye
Richmond’s beloved taco-slinginger, Nate, will be closing the doors of his Taco Truck Stop, a retired executive chef will head up a downtown restaurant, and Local Eatery and Pub can now dish out premium beers and whiskeys.
The big restaurant news this week is that Nate’s Taco Truck Stop is closing up shop this Friday. In an emotional battle between his passion for great food and taking care of his family, his family obviously won out and the brick and mortar version of Nate’s tacos will officially close tomorrow. Richmond is absolutely losing a great restaurant. If you haven’t had a chance to try his tacos make an effort to go there either today or tomorrow. The Taco Truck Shop is located at 315 North 2nd Street and after Friday he will continue to run the Taco Truck which makes daily appearances at VCU. Read more about Nate here.
According to Richmond Bizsense, the old Stool Pigeons location in the bottom has a new resident. Major Willy Mayo’s will be taking over the 115 South 15th Street location beginning next month. The restaurant will be headed up by retired Fas Mart chief executive Dave McComas who says the restaurant will be the perfect place to “watch the game and grab a sandwich.” McComas has installed 21 flat screens in order to accommodate the sports crowd and will focus on traditional bar food by upping the ante with hamburgers on pretzel rolls, gourmet macaroni and cheese, and milkshakes.
For anyone who thought the Blue Goat was a wine-only hangout, THINK AGAIN. On Monday December 19th Bluegoat will be doing a Dogfish Head tap takeover which includes five DFH draft beers available for consumption. Just a reminder: Blue Goat is located at 5710 Grove Avenue in the Libbie/Grove area.
We previously told you about the Local Eatery and Pub located on West Main Street in the Fan next to Roxy Cafe. According to Style Weekly, they finally have their liquor license and are now pouring premium English and Irish beers, locally brewed selections, and high-end whiskeys at the bar. So if you were waiting to check the place out for when you could grab an adult beverage, now is your chance.
