Crab cakes for a cause, dining on a boat, and more restaurant news
We know you love you some restaurant news, and we have a hefty portion to dish out this week. Not only can you eat ON A BOAT, but we have what may be the best lunch special in town. Just sayin’…
Mike Britt of Poe’s Pub has a new restaurant concept that is on a boat! The 40-year-old boat which was previously someone’s home has been transformed into a sitting restaurant – Mallory. It is slated to open on Labor Day Weekend with Steve Jurina, former partner of LuLu’s and chef at Millie’s, acting as Head Chef. Dinner cruises could be in Mallory’s future, but for now it will be sitting, or I should say docking, as a new waterfront dining option for Richmonders.
RVANews is about to let you all in on our secret lunch special – Shield’s Market. First of all, this place is adorable. Secondly, you get a half of a delicious sandwich (normally meat, cheese, and lettuce) with a bag of chips for $2.95. That’s right, $2.95! Love a Diet Coke with your lunch? Oh sure! Get a can of Diet Coke or any other soda for just an additional 50 cents! Please do not bombard them today for lunch and take all of our turkey and havarti, we are kind of partial to them.
Love crab cakes? I know, who doesn’t?? Head over to Strawberry Street Cafe during the month of August because with every crab cake served, they will donate 10% of the proceeds to Make A Wish Foundation. Who doesn’t love dining for a cause?
Mekong is celebrating its 16th anniversary with, what else but, beer! Head over to Mekong each Thursday night in August for a full set of new beers to celebrate Mekong loving beer officially for 16 years. That leaves you just tonight and next Thursday. Get on it!
