Chairman Brando’s Fancy Finds: Mar 18, ’11

It’s Black Friday, y’all. A new Black Friday. One not concerned with rampant consumerism and destroying the atmosphere with vast amounts of minivan and SUV exhaust. No, this Black Friday is about a girl and her song.

It’s Black Friday, y’all. A new Black Friday. One not concerned with rampant consumerism and destroying the atmosphere with vast amounts of minivan and SUV exhaust. No, this Black Friday is about a girl and her song. You may know where this is going; if you’re hip to the Internets and “viral video” then you know all about this girl and her song. So, without further adieu, I present to you…

“Friday” by Rebecca Black

Enable high-quality mode and crank the volume for some fun, fun, fun, fun!

I know what you’re thinking. Thine ears do not deceive. Her talent is palpable! The fantastic lyrics, her beautiful and soothing voice, the educational breakdown in the middle…it’s all so, so amazing! Totes my fave song of the year thus far.

But it gets better. Overnight Internets sensations tend to bring out the best in the rest of the Internets’ creativity, so we’ve got all kinds of remixes and covers to take a peek at.

Here’s a Bob Dylan-style cover. (I apologize for the College Humor link. They are terrible, I know. But YouTube is pulling “Friday” covers due to bogus copyright claims.)

Here’s a decently humorous parody:

Here’s a slow (and better) version with demonic growls in the chorus:

Groundhog Day!

And then there are some pretty fantastic images going around. My favorites, of course, being of the ridiculously awkward dancing. Who’d have thought privileged preteen white girls couldn’t dance?

fun-fun-fun
drive-the-bus-oh-yeah
great-dancing-1
great-dancing-2
great-dancing-3
we-so-excited
so-many-seats

Just thought I’d put this out there before someone pops in with their own variant of a “Leave Britney alone!” anti-hater comments. Because, honestly, no one is safe from ridicule in this Age of Internets — not even 13-year-old girls trying desperately to be a pop star and made up to look at least 16. To think otherwise is silly.

It’s like those girls who go all, “I can’t believe you looked at the pictures of me I put on a publicly accessible website that also happens to be the website with the biggest user base of any website that is a website, you Creepity Creepster McCreeperson!!”

It’s just illogical. Besides, who the hell is partying at 13? And going out with dudes that can drive? More importantly, what kind of guy of 16+ hangs out with 13-year-old girls? Come on! Rebecca Black needs to calm the hell down and take her education more seriously.

The Bob Dylan cover sounds more like Lou Reed. Just saying.
