Carytown’s craft beer fest, Dinamo opens, and pizza comes to Robinson Street

Owners of Edo’s Squid and Mamma Zu have a new restaurant, celebrate craft beers in Carytown this weekend, and big changes coming to Robinson Street.

It’s like Baja Bean KNEW when spring was going to hit because, as of Tuesday, the patio is open and bumping. The remodel looks great, allowing for more seating, and the circular bar makes for quick drink-slinging action. Beers and margaritas are a plenty at 1520 W. Main Street, so stop by and soak in some of this much needed sunshine.

Ed Vasaio and Brad Wein–both well known for Edo’s and Mamma Zu–have opened their third Richmond restaurant, Dinamo, at 821 W. Cary Street. They’re currently open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No word yet on specific hours or menu details, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

Everyone has been curious about what will go into the former Racine space at 304 N. Robinson Street, and John Murden from Fan of the Fan has the details. Michael’s Pies and Pints will take over the Robinson Street space, a by-the-slice pizza place with late night hours and delivery service. Sounds like the perfect last stop during a Robinson Street bar crawl!

Looks like Robinson Street will also be getting a new restaurant sometime in the future: both 206 & 208 S. Robinson Street were purchased last month by Cary Street Properties, LLC. The company will soon start demolition for a restaurant. No word yet on what’ll go in.

Secco will turn three next month, and to celebrate they’re launching a new menu! Don’t worry, the favorites will still be available they’ll just be adding large plates and homemade pastas to the mix. It’s a good opportunity to branch out a little the next time you’re there!

Craft beers! We love ‘em! And this Sunday, Carytown is throwing its own Craft Beer Festival in the Cary Court parking lot from 12:00 – 6:00 PM. For just $15 in advance ($20 at the gate) you get unlimited craft beer samples and a souvenir glass to remember all the fun you had. RVANews is giving away four free tickets. But if you don’t want to leave it to fate, you can purchase your tickets here.

According to Richmond Bizsense, Estes BarB’Que food truck will soon have a brick and mortar location in Jackson Ward. Joshua Estes is about a month out from opening at 317 N. 2nd Street, on the same block as Thai Corner. You may recall that Thai Corner’s owner, Michael Ng, is hard at work turning the block into a restaurant corridor. Estes’s menu will be similar to its food cart, but with more options and more local ingredients. The owner’s packing eight sauces, six kinds of slaw, and even a vegetarian barbecue made from mushrooms, so there’s really something for everyone!

Speaking of barbecue, GWAR has come out with its own GWAR-B-Q Sauce, featured here on Fan of the Fan. Who’s brave enough to look at the list of ingredients?
