For much of the 20th century, Broad Street was the heart of retail, life, and culture in the city of Richmond. Featuring large department stores such as Miller & Rhoads, and Thalhimers, the style savvy, graced a portion of this 15-mile stretch, strolled the sidewalks and looked good doing it. Although the department stores are long gone, style on Broad still remains.

Although the department stores are long gone, style on Broad still remains.

Despite the summer heat, light and colorful layers add another dimension to any outfit.

  1. Very nice photo essay. You must have taken these pictures before the heat wave set in. Everyone seems comfortable and relaxed, the way they should be on pleasant afternoon on Broad.
