Buz & Ned’s raises employee wages, announces other benefits to attract, keep talent
The restaurant will pay regular hourly workers and tipped employees a starting wage of $12.50 and $8.00 per hour, respectively.
Buz Grossberg, owner of Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue restaurants, has a revolutionary idea: in order to attract and retain the best employees, he’s going to start paying them better.
Beginning next week, Grossberg is bumping the starting pay for employees of his two Richmond-area restaurants to $12.50 per hour for regular hourly workers and $8 per hour for servers who also make tips.
Grossberg currently pays those workers $8 and $6 an hour, respectively. The minimum wage in Virginia is $7.25 an hour and $2.13 for tipped employees.
The business will also offer employees paid vacation time after one year of service. But & Ned’s joins Ellwood Thompson’s Local Market, which raised its minimum wage to $10.10 earlier this year.
Buz & Ned’s has locations on the Boulevard and West Broad Street at Parham Road in the West End.
