Big changes at RVANews

As 2014 comes to a close, we’ve got some news to share.

As 2014 comes to an end, so does an era here at RVANews.

Nathan Cushing, who’s written the vast majority of content for RVANews over the last three-and-a-half years, is leaving us (and Richmond). Under his tenure, we’ve grown quite a bit–expanding the quality, quantity, and scope of our coverage. I’m sad to see him go, and I can honestly say that without his hard work we wouldn’t have this awesome foundation to build upon. But as much as I hate when talented folks leave Richmond, two things make me feel better:

  1. Exporting RVA to other parts of the country is important!
  2. Everyone always comes back.

Now, as 2015 begins, so does a new era here at RVANews.

We’ve taken Nathan’s departure as an opportunity to restructure and reorganize. Moving forward, I will focus more on my role as publisher, while Susan Howson–steadfast contributor and supporter since day one–will come on as our first full-time managing editor starting tomorrow. It’s been our goal for a while now to both get Susan on the RVANews team and to apply what we’ve learned over the last couple of years about how we work together. Now seemed like the perfect time.

The future looks bright, and I’m incredibly excited about what we’ve got planned for 2015. I think you’re gonna love it.
