A few residents in the Bellevue area have experienced strange and disconcerting incidents involving two individuals claiming to be affiliated with Linwood Holton Elementary School.

From a release from the Richmond Police Public Affairs unit:

“A female and a male claiming they were working with Linwood Holton Elementary and selling educational resources talked their way into a resident’s home,” said Sector 412 Lt. Brian Corrigan. “After letting them into the house, the resident began to suspect they were not representing Holton Elementary School.”

Holton Principal David Hudson confirmed the two people were not associated with the school and that the school would not sanction such activity.

“These two were very savvy,” said Corrigan. “They dropped a few names of Holton parents in the neighborhood and made the resident feel comfortable in talking to them.”

The Richmond Police Department wants to remind all residents that if solicitors come to your door, you do not have to let them in. Be especially wary if they are not carrying identification from the organization they are claiming to represent.

To report suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call the Richmond Police non-emergency number at 646-5100. If something requires the immediate attention of police, do not hesitate to call 911.
