Better Future Fund awarding college savings accounts to forward-thinking fifth graders
Virginia529, Papa John’s, and Richmond International Raceway are teaming up to offer college savings accounts to 10 local fifth graders. Find out how your soon-to-be middle schooler can get in on this!
Fifth grade students enrolled in Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, Petersburg, and Richmond City schools have the chance to win one of 10, nicely-padded college savings accounts, courtesy of the Better Future Fund, a scholarship effort sponsored by the folks at Virginia529, Papa John’s, and Richmond International Raceway.
What does it take to snag one? Have your middle-schooler-to-be slip on his or her forward-thinking cap and answer this question in 400 words or less:
How will you better your community by attending a college, university or training program?
Essay responses must be submitted online by Thursday, March 31st.
Five first-place winners will each be awarded a $1,000 Virginia529 College Savings Plan account. The school or PTA of each first place winner will receive a free Papa John pizza party and $529 to help snazz out their fifth grade graduation ceremonies.
Five second-place winners will each receive a $529 Virginia529 College Savings account. Schools and PTAs of second place winners will receive a Papa John pizza party and $250 for their fifth grade graduation ceremonies.
All winners will also receive a family pack of tickets to ToyotaCare’s250 NASCAR XFINITY Series Race at Richmond International Raceway.
