Atlantic 10 adds Davidson

With the addition of Davidson, the Atlantic 10 maintains its presence in the state of North Carolina and its reputation as one of the most successful basketball conferences in the country.

This morning, the Atlantic 10 announced the addition of Davidson College. A-10 commish, Bernadette Bernadette McGlade had this to say:

It is my pleasure to welcome Davidson’s administration, their student-athletes, staff, alumni and fans to the Atlantic 10 Conference. They will maintain our presence in the Charlotte market, one of the top 25 media markets in the country, and reinforce our commitment to national prominence in men’s basketball.

Last year, Davidson went 26-7 before losing a 59-58 heartbreaker to Marquette in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. They finished the season on a 17-game winning streak. Head Coach Bob McKillop has coached the Wildcats since 1989 and holds the Southern Conference record for wins at 249 and has 414 career wins.

With the departure of University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the addition of Davidson maintains the A-10’s presence in the state of North Carolina. Davidson joins George Mason University as recent additions to the conference.
