Akida opens today in Museum District, ramen joint coming to former Fan space
The move will allow for more parking and the chance to test out a new concept in the former restaurant’s spot.

Well, it took nearly a year longer than expected, but today Akida sushi will open in its new home in the Museum District in the former Black Hand Coffee Company spot at 606 N. Sheppard St.
Akida opened at 814 N. Robinson St. in the Fan District in March 2000, but owner Kevin Mak said parking challenges in that neighborhood and a need for more space motivated the move to Sheppard.
Mak also owns Carytown Sushi.
Akida, a Fan staple for a decade and a half, will be replaced by a yet-to-be-named ramen shop. Akida joins the growing Devil’s Triangle area alongside Buddy’s Place, Caliente, Arianna’s Grill, and Bandito’s Burrito Lounge.

Wow. Thanks for posting this. Planning to go tomorrow. Is the new name Acid or did spell check get you? See this sentence – Acid joins the growing Devil’s Triangle area alongside Buddy’s Place, Caliente, Arianna’s Grill, and Bandito’s Burrito Lounge.
@Mike – Thanks for the heads up! It’s been corrected.
