1. An Evening with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
From “Thrift Shop” to “Can’t Hold Us,” there are at least five Macklemore & Ryan Lewis songs that everyone knows all of the words to, whether they want to or not. And now this famous pop duo is back on tour! And coming to Richmond! Check it out for a guaranteed night of fun, and a guaranteed week of their “Downtown” song stuck in your head. And hey, if you’re one of those people that likes to donate to charity, one dollar from every ticket sold will go to Youth Speaks, Equal Justice Initiative, and the 30/30 Project.

2. Ricochet, A Circus of Two, Smoke and Mirrors
This insanely talented duo from New Mexico travels all over the world doing trapeze-artisty things. Their act combines acrobatics, dance, and a whole bunch of things in the air that I can’t even do on the ground. It’s kind of like a circus performance, but without the terrifying clowns. And it’s all very poetic, so while it may make you feel out of shape, you’ll at least feel cultured.

3. Video Games Live
– RESCHEDULED TO FEBRUARY 20TH
To be completely honest, at first I thought this meant participating in a live video game. Then I thought about the implications of having to avoid fireballs and banana peels. Then I thought I should start playing more modern video games, because these references are all really outdated. Then I thought, wait, this actually has nothing to do with participating in live video games, but instead is a concert put on by the Richmond Symphony featuring music from some of the most popular video games ever. Which sounds much safer.

4. Afrikana Film Festival’s Evening with an Icon: Sonia Sanchez
This weekend, the Afrikana Film Festival brings you the RVA premiere of BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, a documentary about the groundbreaking educator and poet. They also bring you Sonia Sanchez herself, for a Q&A and meet-and-greet after the film! What! Neat!

5. A Comedy Show with Cameron Esposito, Rhea Butler, and Mary Jane French
Richmond loves comedy, and luckily for us, comedians love Richmond. Next Wednesday, comedian Cameron Esposito is coming to entertain Richmonders with an iconic personality and great jokes. If you’re not sure about her credibility, she’s been a guest star in late night talk shows hosted by really famous funny people, a guest star in podcasts hosted by really famous funny people, and is in fact a really famous funny person herself. She’ll also be joined by Rhea Butler, a contestant on Last Comic Standing, AND our very own local-and-just-as-hilarious comedian, Mary Jane French. Get tickets here.
