1. The LEGO Movie

Everything is awesome when you can use the change in your car to take the whole family to a movie.

  • Friday, February 5th • 7:00 PM and Saturday, February 6th • 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
  • Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Road
  • $1

2. Stories at the Museum: Black History Month

On select Saturdays each month the Virginia Historical Society hosts educator-led readings of history-themed children’s books, complete with a “make-it-take-it” craft for the kids. This is one of those Saturdays, my friends!

  • Saturday, February 6th • 11:00 AM
  • Virginia Historical Society, 428 N. Boulevard
  • Free!

3. The Adventure to the Imagi Nation Family Show

Magician David London uses “magic, storytelling, and interactive play to take children of all ages on a journey to the Imagi Nation, a far away place found within each one of us.” This show is recommended for ages 5 to 11 and is free to the public. BUT other than the 65 tickets available for reserved seating, the rest are first come, first served. Get on it, ‘rents!

  • Saturday, February 6th • 11:00 AM
  • Firehouse Theatre, 1609 W. Broad Street
  • Free!

4. Swamp Things

This event would be a great big “NOPE” for me, but you and your kids probably aren’t big, huge babies about reptiles and amphibians. So give it a go! You’ll get the chance to meet all kinds of creatures who make their homes in the mud and guck, including Maymont’s itty-bitty alligators!

  • Saturday, February 6th • 2:30 — 3:30 PM
  • Maymont Nature & Visitor Center, 2201 Shields Lake Drive
  • $8 for members; $10 for non-members (recommended for ages 5 and up)

5. Family Yoga: Celebrate the Chinese New Year!

Wendy Chung Chu will lead this family exploration of how the Chinese zodiac animals came to be–and teach you poses for the animals while she’s at it! This celebration will also include songs, games, and how-to’s for fun partner poses. Any donations collected at this event will be given directly to Greater Richmond SCAN.

  • Sunday, February 7th • 3:30 -ready 4:30 PM
  • Adya Yoga and Ayurveda, 1801 E. Broad Street
  • Free!
