After a few days of ungodly sogginess, it looks like this weekend is going to be tolerable. So, there’s no excuse to stay hunkered down inside. Get out! Look at the leaves! Enjoy the brisk, Autumn air! Because before we know it, it’s going to be so cold that our lungs will freeze up. Here are some things (5, actually) to keep you busy this fine, Fall-ish weekend.

Enjoy the brisk, Autumn air! Because before we know it, it’s going to be so cold that our lungs will freeze up. Here are some things (5, actually) to keep you busy this fine, Fall-ish weekend.

1. All That I Will Ever Be

Six Feet Under and True Blood fans assemble! This play was written by Alan Ball, creator of these beloved, whackadoo shows, and is said to promise a smart critique of American consumption dished out via Ball’s trademark, satirical style. Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th at 8pm, Sunday, November 15th at 2pm, Shafer Street Playhouse, free! (Read a review of a New York City production of the show here.)

2. Quattro na Bossa

Are you a fan of singers that both sound AND look like angels? Allow me to present Laura Ann Singh. (Yes, she is a singer, and her last name is “Singh.” That’s what we call “fate.”) Laura Ann is the voice behind (or I guess in front of?) this Bossa Nova ensemble that is sure to provide you with a classy and snazzy soundtrack for your evening. Friday, November 13th, 8pm, Ashland Coffee & Tea, 100 N. Railroad Avenue, $10.

3. SunTrust Richmond Marathon

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am not a runner. But I love runners, and I’m perfectly willing to support their efforts just as long as I’m able to do so whilst sitting on my lazy ass in front of this here computer. Dubbed “America’s Friendliest Marathon,” this is a must-see for all Richmonders, runners or not. Saturday, November 14th. Check race schedules here. 4. To Kill a Mockingbird at Movies & Mimosas

Gregory Peck starring in the film adaptation of one of the best books ever written? If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, well, then I don’t think we have anything else to talk about. Saturday, November 13th and Sunday, November 14th, 11am, 1301 N. Boulevard, $5.50 ($4.50 with Criterion Club Card).

5. Dead Aid: The Moral Imperative to Find a Better Way in Africa

This should be interesting: someone has beef with Bono. In this event put on by the Jepson School of Leadership studies, economist Dambisa Moyo will point out the current flaws in the Western approach to providing help to Africa, arguing that foreign aid should be phased out and replaced with innovative financial development projects. Monday, November 16th, 12pm, Modlin Center for the Arts, free but tickets are required. Call 804-289-8980 for details.
