1. Wags & Wine: A Happy Hour in Agecroft’s Gardens

If you want to get my attention, tell me about an event you’re having that both encourages me to pretend I’m from another era and also gives me an opportunity to hang with my beloved dog. Former Agecroft Hall resident, the late Elizabeth Morton, sounds like she was a lot like me in that she liked dogs (only she got to actually live in another era). Agecroft Hall invites you to teach dogs about history by touring the grounds and the hitting up the cash bar. I’ll be the one trying to coax what appears to be a small, trembling dingo from behind an impeccable shrub.

2. Stories of HumanKIND

You can read more details here, but this collaborative art project has set out to document stories of human kindness and turn them into actual light. First comes the transcription of people’s true stories onto a big stretch of wall, then a Hamilton Glass mural, then LED bulbs that light up when you submit a kind thing that happens to you? No joke, you will be able to pass this wall and actually see kindness happening in real time. That’s pretty damn cool. Be part of the initial transcription this Saturday, bring the kids, prepare to tear up but leave feeling awesome.

3. LiveSky: Mysteries of the Universe

The Science Museum of Virginia…oh, you mean that little shack near the Redskins Training Camp? JK, SMV, you have my heart. You are a (figuratively) towering monument to innovation, and you are always urging us to direct our attention to the world’s mysteries. Crystals! Bodies! Physics! But is anything more mysterious than THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE? It’s doubtful. Go attempt to make some sort of sense of it all and borrow a telescope while you’re at it.

4. Anthem Moonlight Ride

I’m not even going to try to hide it, the Moonlight Ride is my favorite of all the rides in all the land! Don’t even try to pretend like glow sticks aren’t awesome. Add glow sticks to riding a bike under a full moon, and you have got yourself a pleasant hour or so. Plus, the post-ride entertainment, food, and beer are all bangin’.

5. 2nd Annual RVA BrewBQ

Beer is the new water, and barbecue is the new everything else. The 17th Street Farmers’ Market will be hosting the second annual ode to barbecue and artisanal beer. Given the explosion of local breweries, I’d guess that this’ll top last year in beer selection. Don’t quote me about the meat, though. Never quote me about meat.

Fall Line Fest has done us a solid by extending the festival frenzy into September. Get the most bang for your buck by picking up a VIP ticket for $55. With a VIP ticket clutched in one sweaty paw, you’ll be able to:

  • Cut some lines!
  • Slide right into the Hippodrome’s VIP bar!
  • Pick up a swag bag full of musical and Richmondical merchandise!
  • Nab some discounts at retail shops in the downtown area

These tickets are unlikely to last much longer, so I recommend buying them TODAY (or TOMORROW) for best results. Purchase VIP tickets online.
