WorkIt Richmond talks to Need Supply about growth

A veteran of Carytown retailers and growing.

Need Supply has been around for 18 years and although their business has truly taken off in the virtual world of internet sales they promise to stick around.

From WorkIt Richmond

Need Supply, which moved to Carytown about 18 months after opening, is now an internationally-known company. The business was No. 723 on the 2013 Inc. 5000 list of the nation’s fastest-growing businesses, with 2012 revenue of $3.9 million.

That rapid growth — the business is now closing in on 40 employees — has been fueled by a 2008 decision to launch an online store. But as the company gained an international following, it doubled down on its roots as a Richmond business.

“We have more customers now in Europe, New York or Asia than we do in Richmond,” Bossola said. “But we really believe strongly that Richmond is part of our DNA and part of who we are. We think about that when we are making decisions, buying products or talking about who our customers are. I think that Richmond vibe is part of what makes us unique and is part of why people like us in other cities.”
