Most religions urge us to pray and say that the proper target of prayer is God. The intentions that define most prayers pose the questions: What kind of prayers make sense? What kind of sense do prayers make?

James Hall is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of North Carolina. He was Thomas Professor of Philosophy (Emeritus) at the of Richmond where he taught for 40 years and is the creator of two adult education video series for the Teaching Company.
