VCU’s art institute project construction has been on hold for 12 weeks

Making sure the building can stand up is fairly important.

From RTD:

Officials could only offer limited specifics about the technical concerns, saying that they relate to the geometry of the building and the need to ensure the structure is sound.

“The foundation needs to hold all of this up,” Lepley said. “That’s why this was a critical point in time before we move forward to make sure everything was the way it should be.”

In most building projects figuring out the foundation would seem like a good starting point. This might not of been the case with the VCU art institute project that started last June and is supposed to finish up in 2016.
