First, on the city hall fiasco…

I want to dispel the notion that RPS has been doing nothing about–or has fought a relocation from–city hall. . . RPS researched and presented at least four different relocation proposals over the last two years, and each time, either the request was denied by the city or the funding was not allocated for either the space or the move.

On transportation

Transportation remains a challenging operational area, but the end of out-of-zone bussing has not had a big impact on our area aside from an increase in car drop-off/pick-up at Munford.   Hill is growing as more and more neighborhood families are investing in the success there, and the out-of-zone applications continue to outpace spaces.  The IB program at TJ is also expanding as the students who began the program as freshmen advance another grade.

On progress

There are also more students this year taking AP courses, dual enrollment courses, and industry certifications than ever before.  Our elementary foreign language classes have expanded, and the number of families here seeking pre-K placements doubled.
