1) Thursday, July 31st – Nonprofit Retirement Plans
Harrowgate Elementary School, Parent/Community Trailer, 15501 Harrowgate Road, Chester, 23831
9am-12pm, with Randy Howard.
Nonprofit retirement plans, commonly referred to as 403b plans, have received little attention or oversight until recent years. Nonprofit board members may not recognize their fiduciary role for plan oversight, including approval of investment choices, competitive selection of providers, and monitoring of fees. Designed for board and senior staff members. FREE!

2) Saturday, August 9th – Working with Consultants
Eastside Community Enhancement Center, 7301 Boydton Plank Road (Dinwiddie), 23803
10am-1pm, with Gail Merridew.
Whether for strategic planning, board development, fundraising, financial management, or other capacity building initiatives, agencies often need assistance from consultants who specialize in areas the board and staff do not. Finding the right consultant for a specific initiative and developing a successful relationship can seem a daunting task. In this session, board members and senior managers of organizations, as well as current and potential consultants, will learn the steps to interviewing, contracting with, and evaluating the consultant-client relationship. FREE!

3) Tuesday, August 12th – The Benefits of VANNO Membership
Pathways, 1200 West Washington Street, Petersburg, 23803
1pm-4pm, with Deborah Barfield Williamson.
VANNO is the statewide association serving and representing Virginia’s nonprofit sector and it strives to ensure all nonprofits are educated, engaged and equipped to serve their communities, and that their voices are heard by public policy makers. This session will provide information about the benefits of VANNO membership, such as access to affordable Group Health Insurance, discounts on services, and priority technical assistance. FREE!

4) Friday, August 15th, Intro to Microsoft Excel 2: Formulas, Formatting and Charts
Hopewell Public Library
10am-2pm
$45 (includes comprehensive instruction manual)

5) Wednesday, August 20th, Effective and Creative Volunteer Recognition
Wakefield Foundation

$20

6) Tuesday, August 26th, Budgeting with Care and Concern
