United for UNOS 5K and Fun Run this Friday in Innsbrook

The inaugural event aims to raise awareness and funds for organ donation services.

Looking to get off the couch and support a good cause at the same time? An event taking place this Friday in Innsbrook could be just the ticket.

The United for UNOS 5k and Fun Run is a family friendly walk/run to honor organ donors, celebrate organ recipients, and offer hope to those who continue to wait for a lifesaving organ transplant. The inaugural event, put on by the United Network for Organ Sharing, aims to raise awareness and funds for UNOS’ lifesaving work, including organ matching and transplantation education programs.

The event will begin Friday evening at 4:00 PM at the Innsbrook Pavilion, located at 4901 Lake Brook Drive in Glen Allen.

If you can’t participate in the race, or just aren’t a runner, you can still participate as a ‘virtual runner.’ A $25 contribution will place you in the United for UNOS 5K Virtual Running Team, support of which will be recognized at the event.

Online registration closes today and is $35. You can still register the day of the event for $50. Registration for the Fun Run–open to kids 8 and under–is free.
