Fast and Fresh plein air painting on Monument Avenue

The first annual Plein Air Richmond, an event presented and hosted by Brazier Gallery to benefit the Richmond Symphony, is in full effect this week. Keep an eye out around town as 47 specially juried plein air painters from across the United States set up easels all over our historic city to create hundreds of paintings.

Among other related activities will be “Fast and Fresh” on Monument Avenue on Saturday: from 9AM-noon juried and non-juried artists will start and complete paintings on Monument Avenue. These paintings will be available for purchase off the easels (with proceeds benefiting the Symphony).

The first annual Plein Air Richmond, an event presented and hosted by Brazier Gallery to benefit the Richmond Symphony, is in full effect this week. There will be a public exhibition at Brazier Gallery on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24. Among other related activities will be “Fast and Fresh” on Monument Avenue on Saturday: from 9AM-noon juried and non-juried artists will start and complete paintings on Monument Avenue. These paintings will be available for purchase off the easels (with proceeds benefiting the Symphony).

Real Richmond’s VCU: Alternative Eats

More fun than college, savor the flavors of the exotic and homegrown at five local restaurants and food purveyors, such as, depending on the day Ipanema, The Nile, William Miller House B & B, The Empress, The Black Sheep, S@mple, Cellar Door, The Magpie and more on this 1.5 mile walking tour that walks us through VCU’s vibrant Monroe Park Campus with a detour (some tours) into the adjacent Carver neighborhood.
Besides samples and insider info from chefs and owners, our 2.5 hour food tour will highlight the arts, literary, and musical history of the area as well as pay heed to the Victorian architecture of The Fan.

City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

Frequency
Typically the second and fourth Monday of each month; 6:00-8:30 p.m. (With the exception of August, when no Formal meetings are held, and holidays)
