The Viceroy closing doors for a week for menu revamp, rebrand

The year-old Devil’s Triangle restaurant plans more approachable, casual menu options with relaunch.

The Viceroy is closing its doors at the end of business today for a menu revamp and restaurant rebrand, according to a Facebook post sent to fans this morning.

The restaurant, located in the Devil’s Triangle area of the Museum District (in the former space long occupied by Cafe Diem) at 600 North Shepard Street, will feature a new menu when they reopen on Monday, July 28th.

According to co-owner Sean McClain, the current menu wasn’t connecting with customers. He told Richmond.com in an interview today that the new offerings will be more casual and approachable.

The restaurant opened last summer.

It’s also worth mentioning that Viceroy plans to offer their large selection of craft beers at a special price to clear inventory this evening.

  1. While I understand running a business must figure out how to be successful, I am disappointed that Ryan Baldwin had to go. Ryan is a precious gem. I sincerely hope that he finds another place here in RVA that truly appreciates his talent. I for one will miss his dishes.

Interesting. I only ate there a few times, but thought the old menu was excellent. “Casual” and “approachable” reads “low – brow” to me…

Food was mediocre, service was mediocre. I live close, go out to eat all the time, but haven’t been back to viceroy after a couple of tries for a reason…

The single time i went the service was good, as well as the food. Will try out the new concept!

  5. Viceroy had one of my favorite happy hours in RVA. Their handmade torched mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto was out of this world. Service wasn’t the best (except for Justin – a bartender who is no longer there) and management was pretentious.

Word on the street is they’re going to try going Asian-fusion …

Asian-fusion? :( Let’s hope that’s not the case. Was hoping for something along the lines of simple food done well.

I went two weeks ago. All at my table enjoyed our food. Major problem–The NOISE. Music way too loud and we had to yell to hear each other. I hope the noise issue will be addressed.
