Glows in the Dark is playing tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 20, at Rumors Boutique as an installment of the Silent Music Revival. The group will be improvising music for a Buster Keaton silent film that they have never seen before, similar to Bill Frisell’s notable trio that accompanied Keaton films with prepared compositions.

Keaton is best known for his acting in silent films of the 1920s, which take vaudeville influences and employ slapstick comedy along with twisted and tragically hilarious plot lines. The films’ quickly shifting tones and Keaton’s blank slated facial expression should give Glows in the Dark much to work with musically, providing an exciting marriage of visual and aural sensations.

MashUp Sessions just recorded a feature on Glows in the Dark, including videos of two song performances and an interview. Very cool, especially considering MashUp clearly doesn’t get much instrumental music in the studio.
