Back Porch @ GlobeHopper welcomes guest speaker Richard Taranto to talk about the future of seafood and our oceans. As we all are aware, many of the earth’s natural resources both, renewable and non-renewable, are under stress. This Monday’s discussion will focus on another resource that was once considered almost limitless — fish, and look at the decline of the major ocean fisheries, what is causing the decline and what we can to support better fishery management.
Richard Taranto spent almost 40 years studying the oceans. After 21 years as a Navy oceanographer he worked as a civilian scientist supporting government agencies and universities, such as NOAA, Office of Naval Research, Woods Hole Institute of Oceanography and Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Richard has participated in research projects in the Atlantic and Pacific and Arctic Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea.
