The Eight Track show article

To celebrate the Eight Track and its participants RVANews and its fly staffers have organized a show. Said show will take place NEXT THURSDAY at Cous Cous for free free.

The Eight Track turned out really great. A fantastic little home away from home for those of us simultaneously in luv with the World Wide Web and Richmond’s music scene. To celebrate the Eight Track and its participants RVANews and its fly staffers have organized a show. Said show will take place NEXT THURSDAY at Cous Cous and will feature the top 4 (actually 5) “vote-getters” or “point-scorers” from the Eight Track. In case you forgot those are..

  1. Hot Lava
  2. Fight the Big Bull
  3. Supa Fly Floosies
  4. Brian Jones
  5. Coald Toast

Because circumstances, space, time, and our minds/attention spans can’t wrap themselves around all this bitchin’ music, we have conjured up a truly excellent solution. Brian Jones will sing his songs backed by Fight the Big Bull in a clash of musical acumen, as well as massive egos. That makes the show look more like this…

  • Uncanny pop sing-a-long-miesters Hot Lava
  • Charmingly foulmouthed and secretly-maybe-a-little-bit-genius hip hoppers Supa Fly Floosies
  • Wise old, grizzly-bear-beats of Brian Jones (accompanied by his delightfully good looking bandmates Fight the Big Bull)
  • Fine fine freak-beat-on-shit-nordic melodies of Coald Toast

Needless to say, we are very proud of what we, together you and I, have come up with. A fantastic cross section of genres, personalities, and, most importantly as well as absolutely unplanned, a fairly nice representation of Richmond. There are some young people and some old ones, some “jazz” and “indie rock” and “rap” etc., and representatives from Church Hill, Oregon Hill, The Fan, and even Southside.

Anyhow, we are slowly branching out into the real world. We are peeling our faces from our computers, signing out of gchat, hoping not to miss a new and exciting blog thread, and trotting our little robot hearts down to Cous Cous. Let us be honest over here, this is not without some apprehension. Although we can make a beast website and blog about charter schools for a really, really long time, we have never/rarely attempted to succeed IRL. We are excited to be involved in both digital and analog Richmond and cant wait for next Thursday…although we will have to pack in a few extra episodes of Battlestar Galactica this week to free up Thursday night.

The show is free. Music will start at 9 sharp and we look forward to seeing you.
