The Church Hill Tunnel petition is slowly but surely gaining support

This East End advocate isn’t going anywhere, folks.

The Church Hill Tunnel petition was started, in the words of creator and advocate Stefanie Lacks, to “explore the possibility of re-purposing Church Hill Tunnel’s Eastern portal”. The East entrance has been sealed off since a tragic collapse in 1925, and the area has since become overgrown and nearly inaccessible.

Lacks has been posting periodic updates to Facebook and Twitter outlining the progress the petition has made.

Here is her post from earlier this morning on the Church Hill Tunnel Facebook page she launched:

Church Hill Tunnel petition stats: 202 signatures and $45 raised. Please read, sign and RT! Preserve #RVA history!

If you’re interested in supporting this cause, you can sign Lacks’ petition here. If you would like to learn more about the history of the tunnel, you can check out our interview with the VCU Professor who literally wrote the book on the topic.
