The objectives of the festival are to provide the community in the Metro Richmond and Tri-Cities areas with a glimpse of Indian culture, a taste of diverse Indian cuisine, and to exhibit Indian handicraft, art, music and various cultural dances from noon to 9 p.m.

Visitors will be able to taste the flavor of authentic Indian cooking, from chicken curry, lamb curry, kabab, varieties of bread, the South Indian pancake, the “Dosa” and from North India, “Samosa.” Or, enjoy the specific regional foods from various regions of India .

Some of the available beverages will include “Lassi,” to sooth your stomach, the traditional Indian “Chai” (tea) from Darjeeling or Assam and varieties of Indian beer. Smother your sweet tooth with fragrant “rasgullas” and many other Indian desserts, as well as Indian ice cream. While enjoying the foods and quenching your thirst, enjoy shopping for fine jewelry – pure gold, pure silver and real diamond jewelry, saris, Bollywood designer clothing, music CDs, books and many more items.

Throughout the event, specially designed cultural programs will include folk dances and presentations from various regions of India. Be sure to come prepared to take photos or video and stay the whole day!

Admission is free and the event is open to all. This is a family event!
