Suspect detained after suspicious overnight fire at doctor’s office

The affected building at Three Chopt and Gaskins Roads houses Holbert Family Orthodontics and the Balance & Ear Center.

A suspect has been detained and charged, per a Henrico Police statement:

On September 1, 2015, at 2:59 AM, Henrico Police and Fire received a call for service for commercial alarm in the 10200 block of Three Chopt Road. Arriving officers observed smoke coming from the building and fire on the interior. While checking the property, officers located a window where entry was made into the building. Officers stopped a sport utility vehicle leaving the scene of the incident and identified the operator as Deana Annette Clements, age 46, of Crozier. Officers located evidence within the vehicle that implicated Clements in the burglary and arson. After a joint investigation between the Henrico County Police Division and the Henrico County Division of Fire, Deana Clements was charged with trespassing (18.2-119), burglary (18.2-90), possession of burglary tools (18.2-94), vandalism (18.2-137), and arson (18.2-80). Clements is currently being held in the Henrico County Jail without bond.

One person was detained during a joint operation between Henrico Fire and Police into a fire that damaged a West End medical building.

Police were initially called to the 10200 block of Three Chopt Road, at Gaskins Road, at about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning for a reported breaking and entering at a building that houses Holbert Family Orthodontics and the Balance & Ear Center.

Once on scene, responding officers found fire inside the building and quickly called firefighters.

Police were seen searching an SUV near the scene in connection to the blaze early this morning, but wouldn’t elaborate on their investigation.
