Style Weekly dines at Bella’s Restaurant

Reviewer Rachel Machacek says the restaurant feels homey and serves up good Italian fare, but falls flat with some dishes.

Style Weekly restaurant contributor Rachel Machacek dined at Bella’s Restaurant, a Charlottesville staple which opened a Richmond location in the Short Pump Village shopping center–the same strip mall in which Peter Chang China Cafe is located–last July.

The Roman-Italian restaurant serves up hearty portions of pastas and other traditional fare, not all of which Style found impeccable. Overall though, the review was positive, with Machacek calling her experiences “a nice Italian meal.”

Like a good mom, [co-owner Valieria] Bisenti sticks to the tried and true, and the menu doesn’t stray far from the obvious as far as Italian Roman fare goes. The thing you’ll need help with is how much food is enough — and the friendly servers (with thankfully zero affectation) will let you know. Hint: An entrée for two easily feeds three, maybe four.
