Street closures for VCU Broad Street Mile

Be aware of possible traffic issues on Saturday.

The VCU Broad Street Mile runs from 10 AM to 2 PM this Saturday. Broad street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m., between Belvidere and Meadow St.

Soft closures begin at 5 a.m. along with towing. Hard closures begin at 9 a.m.

East and West Street – Closures

700 – 1700 blocks of W. Broad Street (from Belvidere to Allen St.)
600 – 1600 blocks of W. Franklin Street (from Belvidere to Lombardy)
900 block of Park Ave. (from Harrison through Compass through to Laurel St.)
1000 block of Grove Ave. (from Harrison St. to Linden St.)
800 Cathedral Place (between Laurel and Compass)
900 – 1000 of Floyd Ave (from Harrison St. to Laurel St.)

North/South – closures

400 block of Munford St. (between Marshall and Broad Sts.)
300 block of Gilmer St. (between Marshall and Broad Sts.)
300 Hancock St. (between Marshall and Broad Sts.)
600 Bowe St. (between Marshall and Broad Sts.)
100 & 200 block of Pine St. (between Franklin and Broad Sts.)
00 – 300 block of N. Laurel St. (between Main and Broad Sts.)
00 block of Cherry St. (between Main St. and Floyd Ave.)
300 – 400 block of Shafer St. (between Franklin and Broad Sts.)

ALL STREETS WILL HAVE LIMITED ACCESS TO ALLEYWAYS. THERE WILL BE A SOFT CLOSURE TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE Broad Street deck from Grace St., via Harrison St. and Shafer Streets. There will also be a soft closure at Bowe and Marshall Sts. to allow access to the Bowe St. Deck.

Open Streets

Grace St. will remain open from Belvidere to Lombardy Sts. * Once you reach Lombardy St. there will be intermittent access by officer working the intersection. This is contingent upon to gaps in between participants. This will facilitate access to the Broad St. Deck at Shafer and Harrison Sts.
Main St. will remain open for westbound traffic. Between Belvidere and Harrison St., there will be no northbound access.
Marshall St. will remain open for eastbound traffic. Between Bowe and Belvidere St., there will no southbound access.
Belvidere St. will remain open for northbound and southbound traffic. There will be no traffic allowed to have westbound traffic on Broad Street.

Normal operating streets

Leigh St.
Clay St.
Cary St.

Vehicle bridge/crossing points

Harrison and Franklin Street. This road is to be opened intermittently for traffic that will be heading in the southbound lane only from Grace St. to Main St. There will be (2) officers at this intersection to allow traffic to flow when there are gaps. This will also allow residents of West Avenue to get to their residence or traffic to also proceed west on West Ave. Traffic will be allowed to flow southbound on Harrison only during the 5k.

Grace/Lombardy Street crossing points. This road is designed to allow traffic to flow east and west on Grace St. at this intersection to allow vehicle to leave the area of the Broad St. Mile. This will be a primary egress point from the Broad St. Deck. There will be (2) officers at this intersection to allow traffic to flow when there are gaps.
