Buskey Cider has finally settled on a location within Scott’s Addition. The fledgling cidery will open a tasting room and production facilities in a 7,500-square-foot building at 2910 West Leigh Street towards the end of March.

Charlie Diradour, owner of a handful of other nearby buildings, including those housing the recently opened Growlers To Go/Starbucks combo and En Su Boca, owns the property and helped finance buildout, according to Richmond BizSense.

In what is usecoming a crowded neighborhood brewery scene, a local man thinks there’s still room for a cidery in Scott’s Addition.

Backed by a group of investors, 24-year-old Will Correll has plans to open Buskey Cider, and is leaning towards a Scott’s Addition property for his venture, somewhere between 7,000 and 10,000 square feet.

Scott’s Addition currently has two breweries, a meadery, and could soon be home to an urban winery concept, but the fledgling neighborhoodhas thus far been without a cidery operation.

Correll cited Richmond’s growing craft beer scene as his main reason for choosing it for his business, after considering other nearby cities. He told Richmond BizSense:

“Richmond is quickly developing as one of the best places to make craft beer,” Correll said. “The cider industry is very much following the trends of the craft brewing industry, and cider consumption is rising.”

Correll plans to open sometime in 2015.
