Special needs camp forced to close due to theft of air conditioning unit

Camp director made decision to close down camp, citing temperatures over 90 degrees.

A West End camp for children with autism was cancelled Wednesday following the theft of an air conditioning unit Monday night.

RAIN (Richmond Autism Integration Network) says thieves made off with their unit, causing the camp’s director to make an executive decision to close due to temperatures above 90 degrees.

Henrico Police are investigating the incident.

The camp has since ordered a new air conditioning unit and expects to reopen today.
