Short Pump waiter receives $1k tip from generous patron
The customer says it’s all about good karma and encouraged the waiter to pay it forward.
A generous customer made one Short Pump waiter’s night a whole lot better Monday evening, leaving a $1,000 tip.
Reddit user Ubuntuu uploaded a photo of the tip on the r/RVA subreddit, left by a customer identified only as ‘Richard’ who visited Kona Grill in West Broad Village Monday evening.
With it, Richard left the following note on a cocktail napkin, reading in part:
“Every year for my birthday, I give a gift to someone kind. It’s a karma thing, so use it wisely and pay it forward to someone else deserving. – Richard”
The generous gesture is the second such occurrence at a West Broad Village restaurant in as many years.
In January 2014, a waitress at the nearby Short Pump location of Burger Bach received a $500 tip that was later matched by local hourly staffing firm Snagajob.com.
