Short Pump shoplifter leads police on chase, crashes in Innsbrook

Suspect crashed into a Henrico Police vehicle and was quickly apprehended Monday morning.

An alleged shoplifter who Henrico Police say stole goods from a Short Pump shopping center early Monday morning lead authorities on a chase before crashing into a police vehicle minutes later.

Henrico Police say Samuel Drake Walker allegedly shoplifted in the Short Pump area around 8:30 AM. A witness reported Walker’s license plate number to police, who spotted his vehicle shortly thereafter.

When officers attempted to pull Walker over near the Innsbrook Corporate Center, they say he sped away and hit another responding officer’s vehicle at the intersection of West Broad Street and Cox Road.

The suspect then fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended. No injuries were reported.

Walker has two previous grand larceny warrants, and was charged with one additional count in Monday’s incident, along with one count of felony eluding.
