The author of the New York Times #1 bestseller and Oprah’s Book Club pick The Rapture of Canaan and, most recently, the critically acclaimed Firefly Cloak, returns to Minerva Books February 13 at 8pm to discuss and sign copies of her unforgettable new novel. The Sweet In-Between is the mesmerizing tale of a teenage girl struggling to find redemption in an isolated coastal town that has seen its best days come and go.
The book tells the story of 17-year-old Kenny, who must negotiate the difficult landscape of growing up as a gender-confused teen in a small town. As if this weren’t enough, Kenny’s father is in prison, her mother is dead, and she is convinced her father’s girlfriend, “Aunt Glo,” will kick her out as soon as she turns eighteen. When a young woman is accidentally killed next door, Kenny becomes obsessed with finding meaning in the girl’s death and, ultimately, discovers redemption in her own life.
