Sale of former city stable building imminent, mayor’s office says

More than seven different groups are vying for the historic Scott’s Addition property.

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

To the relief of bidders eager to invest in Scott’s Addition, Richmond officials say they are weeks away from a decision on the historic city stables property that they pledged was forthcoming four months ago.

Prospective buyers said that economic development officials called in finalists this week for another round of talks after discussions with four contenders stalled last fall.

“I honestly thought the city had moved on since I hadn’t heard a peep until late last week that they wanted to have one final meeting to ask questions,” said Michael Hild, founder and owner of Anderson’s Neck Oyster Co.

I had been wondering about the state of this property myself. With at least seven different parties interested in transforming such an architecturally interesting building, whomever gets their hands on this piece of real estate will have a lot of watchful eyes and high expectations from the neighborhood.

The RTD has some info on what might become of the property.
