To add a little excitement to your RVAjazz surfing pleasure, we added RVAjazz Radio on the right side of the site. Clicking the big flashing play button will hail a shuffle of Richmond-relevant jazz-like musics your way. The radio is one service of a site called Last.fm, which is proving to be an invaluable tool to musicians and listeners alike.

The website has been successful for years as a new music discovery tool and is becoming a great resource to hear almost any song you desire for free. Independent musicians are catching on quickly to the wide reach of new listeners they get with their music on the site.

If you manually select a song to play in the player, you will only be able to hear a 30-second clip. Pressing the play button is the only way to hear full songs. There are about 59 songs currently on the station, including recent and not-so-recent releases by Richmond musicians as well as music pertinent to articles on the site. As more releases are available through Last.fm, they’ll be added to the radio station.

Hearing the music is so much more important than just reading about it. So hopefully the RVAjazz Radio will provide a nice complement to the articles and news posted here.
