Who Is Nat Reeves?

Nat Reeves is a native of Lynchburg, VA. During the 1970’s, he began performing professionally, playing the electric bass in a funk band. He moved to Richmond, VA and began playing Jazz and the acoustic bass with area musicians like Bob Hallahan, Skip Gailes, Nat Lee and others. Since moving to New York City and later Hartford, Connecticut, Reeves has enjoyed a music career spanning 25 years performing and/or recording with such noted artists as Jackie McLean, Sonny Stitt, Kenny Garrett, Donald Byrd, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, David Hazeltine and others. He recently completed a European tour with the great saxophonist Pharoah Sanders. Reeves has been a member of the faculty at the Hartt School in Hartford, Connecticut for the past 16 years.
