Who is Karen Briggs?

Karen Briggs is often described as “that lady in red” – the featured solo violinist with contemporary pianist and composer, Yanni. Karen’s talent has been exposed to literally millions of people, worldwide, with her prominent appearances in his video “Yanni, Live at the Acropolis”.

Raised in Portsmouth VA and educated at Norfolk State University, this Virginia native has been sought after to record and/or appear in a wide variety of musical settings ranging from Soul to Symphony, Gospel to

Jazz, and Latin to Hip Hop. The list of artists with whom she’s worked is awesome, including Wynton Marsalis, Les McCann, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Chaka Khan, Marcus Miller, Vinx, Yolanda Adams, Straight Ahead, Soul II Soul, Dianne Reeves and more!

Richmond’s James “Saxsmo” Gates Quartet featuring Dr. Weldon Hill on piano will accompany this dynamic violin virtuoso. It will certainly be a night to remember!
