Richmond Montessori School to host ‘Pup Rally’ in support of Richmond Animal League

Students and parents collected supplies for local shelter pets; adoptable cats and dogs will be in the school’s lobby.

On Friday, December 11 from 3-3:30 p.m., students at Richmond Montessori School will host a “PUP Rally” to complete their weeklong community service project in support of the Richmond Animal League, a nonprofit organization that saves lives and provides hope, help and homes to animals in need.

For the second year in a row, students in grades 4-8 will show their support for Richmond Animal League by wearing animal costumes with posters, pom-poms and cheers as parents drive through the carpool line.

Prior to the “PUP Rally,” students and parents have collected supplies for Richmond Animal League and piled them beneath a tree decorated with adoptable cats and dogs in the lobby.

“It’s really wonderful that the school is getting involved in so many ways,” says Christi Kapinos, Special Events Coordinator for the Richmond Animal League. “We are a small organization and advocacy is one the biggest things we rely on in the community. We are very thankful that the students are doing this for us.”

“We wanted to do a group community service project before the holidays,” says Tracy Wilburn, director of finance and operations at Richmond Montessori School. We wanted to raise awareness of the organization and generate more supplies.”
